Mackay Whitsunday Isaac Reef Community Action Plan
Reef Catchments worked with more than 30 stakeholders from 25 different organisations and groups in the Mackay Whitsunday Isaac region to develop a Community Action Plan (CAP). The CAP includes a breakdown of what parts of the Great Barrier Reef are most valued by our community, and the actions that the community believes are the highest priority to protect those values. A total of 10 project or ‘roadmaps’ were designed, and the top three were developed further into a Project Prospectus document.
Reef Catchments will continue as the CAP Leader until 2023, and will work with community groups to implement projects from the prospectus, to add new projects to the prospectus, and to update the CAP as a living document.
This project was completed in September 2023.
