Kira has returned to Northern Queensland after spending the last 14 years working on sustainable community and economic development projects in Western Australia. Kira has extensive experience managing projects for a variety of organisations including Indigenous corporations, WA State government and has spent over five years with Rangelands NRM.

After completing a Masters in Development Economics from Dalhousie University (Canada), Kira travelled overseas to begin her career in community development. Within a few short years she moved to Western Australia where she worked with Indigenous Corporations to help them articulate and achieve their sustainability goals. Kira then moved into project management role with Rangelands NRM where she remained for over five years. After a two year stint with the WA State Government, Kira has made the decision to return to QLD to take up the role of Coordinator – Conservation and Communities.

In her role as Coordinator – Conservation and Communities, Kira is responsible for the delivery of a wide variety of projects aimed at encouraging and supporting community efforts to protect and preserve our coast. Kira’s focus will remain on enabling community-led initiatives for sustainable change and supporting her team to continue their great work in the Whitsunday/ Mackay region.
