In her role as Program Director – Community and Environment, Sunita is responsible for the leadership and management of the Reef Catchments Reef, Biodiversity, Community, Traditional Owners and Partnerships projects teams. Sunita is an experienced Environmental and Community Specialist, with greater than 15 years’ experience in water resources, ESG strategy, regulatory compliance, marine and freshwater quality management, and environmental stewardship.
Prior to joining Reef Catchments, Sunita has worked for State Department, as a consultant and within power generation and coal mining industry. She is recognized for the ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead multidisciplinary teams, and drive strategic environmental initiatives that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. She brings a practical, culturally informed approach to environmental management, fostering meaningful engagement with communities and delivering solutions that support long-term environmental sustainability and positive social impact.
