Litter hot spots in the Mackay region
Reef Catchments has audited the rubbish found within gross pollutant traps (GPTs) throughout the Mackay region. With volunteers, we counted and sorted the rubbish and input the data into the Australian Marine Debris Database. After approximately 12 months, we analysed the data from the GPTs to see what the most common items were, and where they are coming from. Our results are illustrated in a Litter hot spot map.
