Manager - Sugarcane

The Manager - Sugarcane leads the planning, resourcing and delivery of Reef Catchments’ Sugarcane sub-program to achieve measurable natural resource management, water-quality and sustainable agriculture outcomes. The role translates organisational and program priorities into practical work plans, project delivery arrangements, technical and extension priorities, workforce requirements, budgets, monitoring and reporting.
Working with the Program Director - Land and Water, Sugarcane staff, and delivery partners, the Manager provides leadership to the team, oversees funded project obligations, supports landholder practice change, and maintains relationships with industry, government, Traditional Owners, research organisations, funders, Mackay or Proserpine Two-year contract Sugarcane Team
and community partners. The role is accountable for delivery within the approved scope, budget, timeframes, policies, and delegations, and for escalating material strategic, financial, contractual, safety, or reputational matters.
WHS Advisor

The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor provides specialist WHS advice and practical support across Reef Catchments, helping Managers and teams manage risk, meet legislative obligations and continuously improve safety across office and field operations.
Reporting to the People and Safety Manager, the WHS Advisor provides evidence-based advice and recommendations, supports implementation of approved WHS initiatives, coordinates WHS reporting and Return to Work (RTW), and provides technical guidance on WHS training needs and content. Direct technical
input may also be provided to the Senior Leadership Team when requested.
Project Officer – Waterways
Not just reporting.

The Project Officer supports planning, coordination and delivery of allocated Waterways projects that improve catchment condition, water quality and landscape resilience. The role has a strong focus on practical, on-ground delivery of landscape remediation works, particularly streambank remediation, riparian repair and related activities that deliver measurable natural resource management outcomes.
Working under the direction of the Manager – Waterways and senior staff, the role converts approved project requirements into practical work plans, coordinates landholder access, contractors, site activities, budgets, milestones, safety controls and reporting, and helps maintain trusted relationships with landholders, Traditional Owners, funders, government agencies, contractors and delivery partners.
Cultural Heritage and Engagement Officer
The Cultural Heritage and Engagement Officer plays a key role in strengthening relationships between Reef Catchments, Traditional Owner groups, industry, government agencies and the broader community.
Reporting to the Program Director - Community and Environment, this position supports the integration of Traditional Owner knowledge, participation and capacity building across our programs and projects. The role is responsible for delivering cultural heritage and conservation initiatives that contribute to sustainable environmental outcomes across the Mackay Whitsunday Isaac region.
This includes facilitating stakeholder engagement, identifying Indigenous employment and training opportunities, providing cultural heritage advice, supporting compliance with relevant cultural heritage obligations, and undertaking project coordination, field investigations and reporting activities.
