Tenure: Until 30 June 2023 – Part time – 2.5 days (19 hours) a week
Base Salary: $55,000 to $75,000 p.a. pro rata

Reef Catchments is Natural Resource Management (NRM) group for the Mackay Whitsunday Isaac region. We facilitate change and work for long-term solutions to sustain, protect, and improve our region’s natural resources and environment, both now an into the future.

The role

This is a highly varied and fast-paced role, requiring a creative, energetic multi-tasker with the ability to coordinate activities and outcomes across diverse project areas simultaneously. Prior experience in a NRM, scientific or government based communications role will be highly regarded. We are looking for a team player with a positive and engaging personality. This is a part-time position, of 19 hours per week (0.5FTE).

Selection criteria

Essential
– Relevant Tertiary qualifications
– Five + years prior experience in a related communications and/or media role
– Demonstrated ability to coordinate the development of high quality communications resources across platforms, from engaging print, to high-impact online and interactive media
– Experienced media professional and story-teller, with the ability to form relationships and create and distribute dynamic newsworthy content
– Knowledge of local networks, Partners and projects in the Mackay-Whitsunday-Isaac region
– Demonstrated ability to build positive relations and collaborate with diverse teams and individuals
– Ability to skilfully coordinate communications activities, including related communications strategy and report writing
– Previous experience using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop at an intermediate to high level
– Experience in website content management and updates (specifically wordpress)
– Experience in social media platforms and content creation.

Desirable
– Knowledge of in-house video production and editing
– Use of drones
– Event management experience
– Graphic design using InDesign or similar
– Experience in user testing, conducting focus groups and/or designing and conducting feedback surveys
– Management of social media accounts – Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter etc;
– Links to education sector – experience designing educational materials; and
– Experience with NRM/environment sector (i.e. familiarity with subject matter).
