Paul has a Bachelor of Applied Science (1990) and Masters in Business Administration (2009) with a major in Technology Management and minors in Governance & Entrepreneurship both from the Queensland University of Technology. He also is a graduate of the Executive Leadership Program of the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford (2020). He is an experienced Non-Executive Director on regional, state and national organisations and is currently also on the board of the Whitsunday Suicide Prevention Network and Whitsunday Chaplaincy. He has previously held board roles on SU Queensland, SU Australia, and the Australian Institute of Information Management.
Paul also has a distinguished public sector executive career with enduring and diverse local and state government tenures, having held senior positions in Whitsunday, Toowoomba, and Moreton Bay Regional Councils as well as various State Government management, policy & advisory roles. His strengths and experience are in organisational strategy; governance; audit & risk; overwatch of transformational projects; developing accountable leaders; and solving complex problems.
He is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia; Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Graduate of the Company Directors Course; and an Associate Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Paul is currently the owner and managing principal of LG Specialists Pty Ltd – a management consulting firm specialising in corporate governance and public sector executive advice. Paul is based in the Whitsundays where he and his wife Jo (a clinical midwife and nurse) are raising their two teenage children.
