Comment on the Draft Sarina Beach Local Coastal Plan

Aug 8, 2022 | ,

Reef Catchments, in partnership with Mackay Regional Council, has completed the DRAFT Sarina Beach Local Coast Plan (LCP) for Sarina Beach. Feedback on the draft plan closed on Sunday, August 14, 2022.

This plan builds on the priorities and actions identified in the Sarina Beach Management Guidelines for Coastal Zone developed by Sarina Shire Council in 2006. The LCP looks at the management of the coastal unit associated with the beachside community of Sarina Beach. This particular coastal unit covers the length of coast extending from the small creek outlet north of the Sarina Beach Motel, around the headland of Perpetua Point and along to the start of Johnsons Beach. The revised LCP describes the environmental and social values of the coastal unit, as well as threats and management issues, and opportunities that support better recreational use of the beachfront. It also recommends actions aimed at protecting the coastline so its significance and beauty can continue to be enjoyed into the future.
