Draft Town and Far Beach Management Plan Open for Public Comment

clairebartron · Sep 27, 2013 · Leave a Comment

photoBeach Plans form an integral part of the strategic management of the coastal areas in the Mackay Region.

There are 26 beaches within the Mackay Region which fall under the jurisdiction of Mackay Regional Council, of these, 16 beaches have had Beach Plans adopted to date.

The draft plan for Town and Far Beaches has been recently completed and is now available for public comment. With Town and Far Beaches being popular for locals and visitors alike, we greatly value the input of the community to ensure that environmental protection is achieved, whilst still allowing safe and appropriate recreational access and use.

The Draft Beach Plan can be viewed here: Town and Far Beach Plan

To make comment, go to the Mackay Regional Council website  and fill in the online survey form, alternatively comments can be sent via hard copy to;

‘Town and Far Beach Plan Comments’ PO Box 41, Mackay, 4740.

Hard copies of the draft plan will also be available at Coastcare Activities taking place throughout October, as well as at the Mackay Regional Council office and local libraries.
