ROAR! Students at Cannonvale State School have turned a new page for the environment with the launch of their book – Buster the Bunyip Saves the World.
With every class from Prep to Year Six contributing text and illustrations for the story, it’s a must-read as Buster tackles some big issues to save the environment he loves.
Reef Catchments is thrilled to be involved, sponsoring the publication of this very original edition. The book is also supported through the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority’s Reef Guardian Schools program.
Reef Catchments coastal officer, Olivia Brodhurst, said the book was a creative and fun way to share conservation messages.
“Buster the Bunyip book is a truly exciting and engaging way to help spread important environmental messages to children.
“The school is completely in love with Buster the Bunyip!
“Their sense of ownership over the character and portraying him as an environmental hero has the kids completely enthralled. Sharing this enthusiasm and environmental information via a creative book – kid to kid – is a great initiative.”
The story follows Buster, a Bunyip with a heart “as big as Uluru” as he fixes environmental problems across the globe using his super strength, his ability to transport and ability to change colours depending on the level of danger in the area.
The book will be on display at the Cannonvale Library so local community members can have access to the story.
Reef Catchments is proud to support the publication of Buster the Bunyip Saves the World, through funding from the Australian Government National Landcare Programme (NLP). A big congratulations to all involved!
