Graziers Climate Adaption and Resilience Workshop

Participants working on the matrix

Farmers involved in grazing and horticulture were amongst attendees at the recent Climate Workshop run by Reef Catchments at Proserpine.

Landholders were drawn to the workshop by the wide range of topics offered which aimed to explain climate predictions and how to interpret weather patterns particularly with reference to their properties.

A risk assessment exercise, to identify risk to their enterprises with regard to climate variability, proved a hit as it also offered a variety of adaption strategies.

The regional landcare facilitator for Reef Catchments, Juliane Kasiske, said attendees had their eyes opened to the wide variety of resources which were available online.

“There are various free online tools including Vegmachine” she said.

In another segment of the workshop, Green Collar introduced the group to the potentials offered by carbon farming.

Attendees enjoyed the matrix session, the chance to network with other landholders, and the opportunity to discover a variety of resources for future use.
