Come along and take part in the grand opening of the Shellgrit Creek Environmental Reserve and at the same time farewell the shorebirds commonly known as waders.
On 28 April, from 8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m., you can enjoy guided walks, information displays, assisted bird ID, and a free breakfast, just go to Illawong Drive and look for the signs.
The waders visit our coastal area each year from October until April before migrating to breeding grounds in the northern hemisphere. Their resting places all over the globe, including our own area, are threatened and we need to be aware of ways we can help.
Play your part by avoiding walking near the birds, keep your dog on his lead, don’t drive on beaches and tell other people about these simple steps which can make such a difference.
Join us wearing your sun safe clothing and enclosed shoes. Bring a water bottle.
